Mosslight is committed to creating an inclusive space that appeals to a wide audience, including younger readers, educators, and diverse communities. We do not accept work containing explicit adult content, including graphic sexual themes, extreme violence, or mature-rated material (commonly referred to as 18+ or NSFW).We welcome speculative fiction and nature writing that explores the full spectrum of human (and more-than-human) experience—wonder, dread, loss, hope, beauty, and the uncanny—but we ask that all submissions remain suitable for a general audience. Think of the kind of work you’d feel comfortable sharing in a high school classroom or with family members of all ages.If your piece includes mature themes, we encourage you to explore subtlety, implication, or emotional depth rather than explicit detail. We’re excited to read work that glows with imagination while staying accessible and respectful to all readers.Thank you for helping us build a magazine that invites everyone into the wild and the strange!
MossLight is an online literary magazine illuminating the strange and beautiful places where nature and speculation meet. We publish speculative fiction, nature writing, poetry, nature photography, art, and hybrid work that explores our tangled relationship with the living world. Founded in 2025 by MJ Burnham, who holds a bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in literature, MJ has long been drawn to the quiet magic of speculative fiction and the deep, grounding beauty of nature writing. We seek voices that glow softly in the dark—wild, rooted, and unafraid of wonder.
